That was a real big thing, the carnival down here. And the Australia Day Parade. That was big. That was a really big event for the town. It fell by the wayside quite a few years ago.

And I can remember there was always the Butchers' Picnic, the Wharfies' Picnic, different industries come down here and have their picnics, but that's all gone, just drifted off into the sunset. Which was sad, I thought, yeah. It was their big day out.

But the Australia Day Parade, that used to be big. It was really sort of, it was really huge. You know, you had every organisation around, you know, from Scouts, CWA, everybody had a float.
